The community and members of the media are invited to honor Indigenous Peoples with a day of events and a Tribal Flag Raising Ceremony at Springfield City Hall.

On October 14, the City of Springfield is honoring Indigenous Peoples’ Day starting at 8 a.m. in City Hall. At 4 p.m., the City will host a Tribal Flag Raising Ceremony with flags from the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde Community Oregon and the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians of Oregon. The ceremony includes a land acknowledgement and welcoming remarks from Springfield Mayor Christine Lundberg. The flags will be hanging through Friday, October 18.

The event also includes a Native Artist Gallery, a Native Youth and Family Identity Exhibit, information and resources, and book recommendations at the Springfield Public Library. The Native Artist Gallery and the Native Youth Identity Exhibit will be on display throughout the month of October.
