The Springfield Arts Commission is pleased to present SOUL DIG: Excavating Essence, an exhibition of paintings by artist Nyssa Perrin Clark at the City Hall Gallery. The show will run from April 1-30, 2019 with an opening reception from 5-7 p.m., Friday, April 12. The reception, which is open to the community, will feature the artist, light refreshments and live music.

A self-taught artist, Perrin Clark paints abstract expressionism through active stream of consciousness, seeking a state of flow and release of the powerful and transient emotions of life. In her own words, her work is “intuitive — a spontaneous surprise communicating the colorful emotions of the human experience – and our capacity for survival, hope, love, passion, beauty, and renewal.”

At the opening reception, community members can meet the artist and enjoy live music by Jason Renslow. An experienced musician who has been performing in coffee shops and breweries around town for many years, Renslow writes most of the music he performs and has played with bands such as The Junkyard All-Stars and Piece Corpse. His music can be found online Bandcamp and Google Play.
