The purpose of the Springfield Neighborhood Watch is to encourage neighbors to get to know each other and to watch out for each other, which has proven to reduce criminal activity in our neighborhoods. We provide signage to our neighborhood watch groups to help deter criminals passing through. We also educate citizens to prevent crime by practicing measures that eliminate opportunities for property theft, home burglaries, telemarketing and door-to-door sales scams. Additionally, we train our members to be effective witnesses when they call into Springfield Police Department to make a report of criminal activity and suspicious persons.

Fundraising is an opportunity for us to finance events to facilitate neighbors getting together, distribute crime prevention information, and to be available for a Q & A with our neighbors and Springfield Police personnel. Our organization runs strictly off volunteer hours and fundraising opportunities.

While the Springfield Neighborhood Watch works on issues of mutual concern with the Springfield Police Department, it is not part of or funded by, the Police Department or the City of Springfield.
