Costume Mafia

Springfield Public Library hosts Virtual Teen Tuesdays at 4:30 p.m. each week. Teens are invited to log in and join the online discussion. This week, October 27, we’ll be playing the social game Mafia. Sign in wearing a costume or not, your choice, and we’ll have fun crafting the story around the costumed and un-costumed characters that come to play!  We’ll have a friendly costume contest and choose at least one winner. Costumes should be appropriate.  Free, for teens ages 12 and older.

From regular virtual programming to homework help, from book club to volunteer opportunities, there’s still a lot for teens to do at Springfield Public Library. Follow us on Facebook, check out our online library calendar, or reach out to our Teen Services Librarian Cara Kinsey for more information.

Thanks to the Teen Advisory Board for helping choose our virtual program lineup!

“The children of the night… what music they make” at Springfilm

Before he was Saruman or The Man with the Golden Gun, Christopher Lee was known for playing one iconic character – Count Dracula. The Springfield Public Library invites you to stream the classic gothic horror movie ‘Count Dracula’ at home with your library card and then join a terrifyingly lively online discussion at 7 p.m., Thursday, October 29.  Released in 1970 and advertised as the most faithful film adaption of Bram Stoker’s ‘Dracula’, the film was just one of four movies released that year with Lee playing the Count.  Directed by legendary B movie director, Jesús Franco, it was the first film adaption to show Dracula becoming younger as he feeds on his victims. The film is available to be streamed via the library’s streaming service, AVOD, here: https://avod.infobase.com/p_ViewVideo.aspx?xtid=183465&tScript=0

Starring Christopher Lee, Herbert Lom, Klaus Kinski and Maria Rohm; 98 mins; PG.

All attendees will go into the draw for a fantastic virtual door prize! For more information or for help accessing Infobase AVOD please phone 541.726.3766 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

All events are free and open to the community.
