The Springfield Arts Commission is pleased to present two group exhibitions in City Hall over the holidays. A3 Student Art, in the Young Artists’ Gallery, features the best student work from the fall by Chandni Chand, Jennaze McPhie, Karli Flores, Kat Romig, Rae Emery and Auj McCarthy. The City Hall Gallery features the work of three Springfield Arts Commission Award winners from the Mayor’s Art Show: Dennis Werst, Jo Dunnick, and Euphemia Wesley.

The exhibitions run from December 1, 2019 – January 15, 2020 with an opening reception from 5-7 p.m., this Friday, December 13. The reception, which is open and free to the community, will treat visitors to light refreshments and live music by Donald Inglese.

A3 Student Art offers a variety of mediums to enjoy, from photography and drawing, to silk painting and more. Euphemia Wesley, Jo Dunnick, and Dennis Werst each exhibited in the Emerald Art Center’s Mayor’s Art Show and won Springfield Arts Commission Awards for the work presented. Wesley shows both plein air and still life paintings in the City Hall Gallery show. Wesley, a serious student of oil painting, preferred plein air landscapes before trying her hand at still life painting when the weather drove her indoors. Dunnick presents a showing of water colors, after having started her journey as a watercolorist in 2000 after being drawn to the medium’s lightness and flow. Werst, a master printmaker, presents a collection of prints to add to the showing of paintings and watercolors on view at the City Hall Gallery.
