The City of Springfield was allocated $327,639 in Community Development Block Grant coronavirus (CDBG-CV) funds to help prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus (COVID-19). This allocation was authorized by the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act), and is included as a substantial amendment to Springfield’s Fiscal Year 2020-2021 CDBG One Year Action Plan.

From 5:30-6:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 24, CDAC will meet and hold a public hearing on the use of CDBG-CV funds. The CDAC will consider all written comments and oral testimony during the public hearing regarding the use of funds, and will make a recommendation to the Springfield City Council for allocation of CDBG-CV funds.

The City of Springfield’s proposal for the use of CDBG-CV funds is currently available for review. A 5-day public comment period on the proposed allocation of funds is currently open and will close at 5 p.m., June 24, 2020. Background

The Springfield Community Development Advisory Committee (CDAC) advises the Springfield City Council on matters related to the City’s housing and community development activities, which are funded annually by a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Projects funded through CDBG are to serve primarily low and moderate-income residents of the City. The Committee consists of eight members who meet a few times each year, as needed.

The primary purpose of this meeting will be to review and score the recent CDBG Request for Proposals, to hold a public hearing for the CDBG One Year Action Plan, and to make a recommendation on the One Year Action Plan to City Council.
