Spot the Lie!

Can you tell truths from lies? At 4:30 p.m., November 10, join in this Virtual Teen Tuesday event with the Springfield Public Library. Get to know each other a little better by playing the classic game Two Truths and a Lie. Learn some astounding truths and surprising lies as Librarian Cara Kinsey tries to stump you with real world deceptions, fibs, and prevarications. For teens ages 12 and older, free.

Springfield Public Library Closure

Springfield Public Library will be closed on Wednesday, November 11 to observe Veterans Day. The book drop will be open to receive returned items. The library will reopen for limited services on Thursday, November 12.

Teen Book Club

Like books? Want to talk about what you’ve been reading? Join the Springfield Public Library Teen Book Club! At 4:30 p.m., November 12, join in this book lover experience with the Springfield Public Library. While supplies last, you can contact Librarian Cara Kinsey to pick up a copy of the book Fangirl, by Rainbow Rowell. However, if you don’t read the book, you are encouraged to come and talk about books anyways. Free, for teens ages 12 and older.

“Autism gave her a vision. She gave it a voice.” ‘Temple Grandin’ is November’s Springfilm!

Temple Grandin – an autistic woman and holder of a doctoral degree in animal science – is the subject of November’s Springfilm, presented by the Springfield Public Library.

The film follows the life of Grandin (Claire Danes), who after being diagnosed with autism at a young age, gained several post-graduate degrees and had a huge impact on the beef cattle industry due to her insights into animal behavior. Directed by Mick Jackson, the film won several Primetime Emmy Awards with Danes picking up Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild prizes. Starring Claire Danes, Julia Ormond, David Strathairn and Catherine O’Hara ; 107 mins; TV-PG.

Come Write In for NaNoWriMo at the Springfield Public Library

Want to write a novel in a month? Each year thousands of writers take part in the National Novel Writing Month – or NaNoWriMo. And, each year Wordcrafters in Eugene and the Springfield Public Library team up to offer ‘Come Write in’. This dedicated writing time – every Saturday in November from 2-4 p.m. with like-minded WriMos – helps push your word count along in an online, social environment.
