Springfield residents interested in running for election for the positions of Mayor or City Council in the primary election can obtain information and forms for filing from the City Recorder located in the City Manager’s Office at 225 Fifth Street, Springfield, Oregon or at https://www.springfield-or.gov/city/city-recorder-elections/

The Springfield City Charter requires a primary election for Springfield Mayor and City Councilors.  If a candidate receives a majority of votes in the primary election, that candidate is elected.  If a candidate does not receive a majority of votes at the primary election, then a run-off between the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes will occur at the statewide general election on Tuesday, November 3, 2020.
