NARRATIVE OF INCIDENT: On Monday afternoon around 1:36, 911 received a call of an assault that occurred at 1024 “R” St Apartment #D. When officers arrived, they located the victim outside his apartment holding a bloody cloth to his chin. The victim advised the officer that his roommate, Joseph Wolf tried to cut his throat but cut him on the chin instead. The victim described to the officer that he was on a ZOOM meeting and Wolf came down from the upstairs holding a knife in his hand and without saying a word, he slashed the knife at the victim’s throat, but got him on the chin. The victim continued on and said that he started yelling for help as he and Wolf wrestle on the couch. The victim said Wolf calmed down but then stated, “Show me your throat” and the victim was able to kick Wolf in the face and get out of the apartment.
The victim said he told Wolf that he was calling the police and he said Wolf walked out of the apartment in no apparent rush and walked down “R” St to the east. At the time, an area search for Wolf was unsuccessful.
Later the following early morning hours around 0021 hours, a Sergeant was driving north in the 2200 block of Debra Street when he observed Wolf walking northbound. When the Sergeant turned around to contact Wolf, he was gone. Additional units responded and a perimeter was established. SPD K-9 Gryff and his handler arrived and began searching the area.
At approximately 0131 hours, K-9 Gryff located Wolf hiding in a backyard in the 2200 of Rose Blossom Ave, which is the street directly to the west of Debra Street where Wolf was last seen. Wolf was taken into custody without further incident and lodged at the Lane County Jail.
