Writing Scenes That Show Don’t Tell

Looking for a way to hone your writing skills? Each month Wordcrafters presents a free writing workshop at the Springfield Public Library.  Join other aspiring writers from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Monday, February 11 to learn about Writing Scenes That Show Don’t Tell. This workshop will look at techniques to “be sure your scenes are actual scenes….that they show, not tell … [and] explore scene spots where telling is the better choice”.  The workshop will include in-class writing exercises to put what you have learned all together! The workshop will be presented by Linda S. Clare who has been “writing professionally since 1993 and has taught fiction, memoir, and essay writing for Lane Community College for more than a dozen years”.

All events are free and open to the community.

It doesn’t matter if you’re coming to the Harry Potter Academy later in the week.  It doesn’t matter if you even like Harry Potter. If you want to craft a magic wand that suits your style, join Marianne Walker of Imagination International Incorporate to use thermoplastic to create 3D wands! Heads up, these will be great additions to your costume (or be your costume) if you are planning on joining our Harry Potter festivities on Friday.
