The City of Springfield, in partnership with Point2Point at Lane Transit District, will host Wheels by the Willamette from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, May 17, on the Northbank Path at Aspen and W D Street in Springfield. Wheels by the Willamette promotes walking and biking as healthy transportation options.

The event will feature free bicycle safety checks provided by Ding Ding Cycles, bicycle and pedestrian materials (i.e. bike maps, reflectors, etc.), snacks, and refreshments to support and appreciate people walking and riding in our community. Refreshments will include “bike blended smoothies” courtesy of Springfield Safe Routes to Schools. Additionally, Mike the Bike from Travel Lane County will be there with travel information related to biking throughout Lane County and PeaceHealth Rides will have a bike share bicycle available for people to test ride.

This event supports the Business Commute Challenge and National May is Bike Month. Attendees will be able to speak with current Springfield Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee members about serving on the committee as well as learn more about volunteering with bike safety education rides in our community.
