The City of Springfield, in partnership with Point2Point at Lane Transit District, will host Wheels by the Willamette from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, October 4, on the Northbank Path at Aspen and W D Street in Springfield. Wheels by the Willamette promotes walking and biking as healthy transportation options and supports the Get There Challenge.

The event will feature free bicycle safety checks provided by Len’s Bikes, bicycle and pedestrian materials (i.e. bike maps, lights, etc.), snacks, and refreshments to support and appreciate people walking and riding in our community. Mike the Bike from Travel Lane County will be there with travel information related to biking throughout Lane County and PeaceHealth Rides will have a bike share bicycle available for people to test ride.

Attendees will be able to speak with current Springfield Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee members about serving on the committee since the committee will be recruiting to fill vacant positions this fall. Attendees can also learn about volunteering with Safe Routes to School’s bike safety education rides and learn about existing and newly approved changes to Oregon’s bike laws to ensure safety of everyone traveling in our community.
