Will Ritter Author Visit at Springfield Public Library!

Springfield Public Library is thrilled to have local, best-selling author Will Ritter (of Jackaby fame) visiting at 6 p.m., Monday, July 22 for a special presentation and activities celebrating his new, middle-grade book Oddmire: Changeling! Smith Family Bookstore will also be in attendance with copies of the book for sale so you can snag an autograph. The publisher has also generously donated a few copies of the book for attendance prizes.

This program is part of our Summer Reading Program for 2019, themed “A Universe of Stories”. This event is generously funded by the Cressey Family Charitable Trust and the Friends of the Springfield Public Library.

Soap Making

Teens, get your clean on and come make soap at 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 23 in the Library Meeting Room at Springfield Public Library, 225 5th St, Springfield. Free!

Learn the basics of making bar soap from scratch, as well as liquid soap and laundry soap! Take some home after the program.

The Library offers a weekly gathering for teens every Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. Join us to hang out, enjoy a snack, learn new skills and have fun. This event is free and intended for teens ages 12 and up. Teen programs are made possible by our generous Friends of the Springfield Library.

Spanish Language Book Group at the Springfield Library

The Springfield Public Library is offering monthly a Spanish Language Book Group. Pick up a copy of the book now and attend on from 3-5 p.m., Saturday, July 27 to discuss “El Aleph” by renowned Argentinian author Jorge Luis Borges.

This book group is open to the public and free book group copies of the book can be borrowed by participants who preregister at the library. The group will meet two times to discuss Borges’s book: July 27 and August 24. Preregistration is suggested, but not required. Grupo de Lectura en Español en la Biblioteca de Springfield

La Biblioteca Pública de Springfield ofrece un grupo de lectura en español para adultos. Venga a la biblioteca para prestar una copia del libro “El Aleph” por Jorge Luis Borges. Considerado uno de los escritores más influyentes del siglo XX en cualquier idioma, la obra de Jorge Luis Borges continúa inspirando a nuevas generaciones de lectores gracias al deslumbrante poder de sus imágenes y la inmensa profundidad de sus temas. Acompáñenos a la reunión el sábado, el 27 de julio, 3-5 p.m. para charlar sobre el libro y para conocer a otras personas en la comunidad quienes quieren explorar libros en español.
