NARRATIVE OF INCIDENT:

On Aug. 29th, 2019 at 0028 hrs the Springfield Police were notified of a motorcycle crash occurring at the MLK/ Harlow Road round-a-bout.   Springfield Officers arrived to find an unconscious female, and a conscious male.   Officers performed CPR on the female until Eugene/ Springfield Fire arrived. Despite their efforts the female was pronounced deceased at the scene. The male was taken by ambulance to Riverbend Hospital where he is being treated for his non-life threatening injuries.

Evidence at the scene and witness statements indicate the male driver was driving south on MLK Pkwy. The motorcycle hit a curb and street sign just prior to entering the round-a-bout.   Both riders were thrown from the motorcycle which came to rest inside the round-a-bout.   Alcohol containers were found at the scene and alcohol does appear to be a factor in the accident.

The Springfield Police Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is investigating the accident.   The names of the involved are being withheld pending notification of the victim’s family.

Anyone who may have witnesses the accident, or driving of the motorcycle prior to the accident, is requested to contact Officer Delcastillo at 541-726-3714.
