Narrative of Incident:

On June 6th 2021, at approximately 9:14 am, Springfield Police noticed a suspicious vehicle in the 1700 block of Q St.  As the Springfield Police attempted to stop the vehicle, the vehicle attempted to leave the area at a high rate of speed.  A computer check indicated the suspect vehicle was an outstanding stolen vehicle.  A pursuit ensued as the vehicle continued westbound on Q St and westbound onto HWY 126.  The suspect vehicle continued westbound into Eugene and onto W 6th St where the vehicle lost a tire from hitting the curb.  The driver exited the suspect vehicle and attempted to elude on foot.  Officers were quickly able to apprehend the suspect a block away.

Upon follow up investigation the driver of the stolen vehicle appeared to be having a medical issue and a Eugene/Springfield Medic Unit was called to the scene.  As the Officers were conducting their follow up, and waiting for medics, they located a pill bottle on the suspect with what appeared to be a white powdery substance inside.  Upon investigating the substance further both officers started coughing violently in addition to their breathing being constricted.  Both officers and the suspect were transported via ambulance to Riverbend Hospital where they were treated and later released.

The suspect was lodged at the Lane County Jail for the above listed charges.
