The Environmental Services Division promotes and protects the community’s health, safety and welfare by providing professional leadership in the protection of the local environment, responsive service to our customers, and effective administration for the Metropolitan Wastewater Management Commission.

  • Managing the City’s stormwater permit with the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination Systems (NPDES) program.

  • Establishing local rates for wastewater and stormwater users.

  • Managing the City’s industrial pretreatment program for industries and businesses using the wastewater system;

  • Partnering for regional wastewater cleaning with Eugene and Lane County. Springfield handles administration for the Metropolitan Wastewater Management Commission (MWMC) which has directed our area’s wastewater system since 1977.
