A is for Aquarium and Aquatic Animals, B de Burbujas y Bacalao. Bilingual stories abound in Springfield’s Día de los niños, día de los libros events this spring. Celebrate our community’s stories, languages and cultures! The Springfield Public Library invites families to find joy in our cultural traditions, in sharing stories and in reading to celebrate Children’s Day, Book Day.

This year, you can:

  • Make Your Own Book! Get a kit at the library during Curbside Pickup. (While supplies last.)
  • Win a prize! Color the fun pictures included in the kit (or download from the library website) and turn it in for a chance to win!
  • Attend a Bilingual Virtual Storytime:  10 a.m., Wednesday, April 28
  • Participate in the Virtual Author Visit with Rochelle Newman: 1 p.m., Saturday, May 1
  • Watch recorded programs on: youtube/wheremindsgrow

The highlight of this year’s celebration is a virtual author visit with bilingual children’s book author Rochelle Newman at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 1. At this virtual event, explore the book Zig Zag: De la A a la Z — From A to Z! Letter by letter, the two languages come together: English-Spanish, Spanish-English. They chat like friends and play. Play you say? That’s right. Coincidences and surprises appear along the way. ZIG ZAG isn’t a translation. It’s a conversation between two bilingual authors. Attendees at the author event will play with language and explore the alphabet in English and in Spanish. Youth participants will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a signed copy of the book!

The Springfield Public Library would like to thank the generous sponsors for this event: Joan Gray and Harris Hoffman, the United Way of Lane County, the Springfield Arts Commission and the Friends of the Springfield Public Library.

  • Ver Videos especiales: youtube/wheremindsgrow

A de Abeja y Abejorro, B is for Bee and Bumblebee. Letra a letra, dos idiomas van, dos idiomas vienen: español-inglés, inglés-español. Dos idiomas charlan en plan de amigos. Y juegan. ¿Juegan?
