Preventive
maintenance and repair to City-owned vehicles and equipment are the primary
activities of the Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance program. New vehicles
brought into the City's fleet go through a preparation requirement before the
vehicle is put into service. A fleet management software program is used to track
costs associated with each vehicle.
Operation and
administration of the Regional Fuel Facility are also functions of this program.
Four agencies, the Springfield School
District, Willamalane Park and
Recreation, Rainbow Water District, and the City of
Springfield built the shared fuel facility in 1989. Bulk fuel is purchased at
reduced rates, making this a cost effective agreement for all agencies.
